Career Development Fund

The goal of the educational Career Development Program fund is to support and fulfill AWE's objectives as an organization and to demonstrate commitment to AWE. The Career Development Program fund was developed as an opportunity for current members to enhance their professional career.

Career Development Program Availability

Career Development Program availability will be based upon the funds acquired by AWE through yearly targeted fundraising initiatives. Career development funds will be granted for opportunities up to $300.

Recipient Eligibility

Recipients of an AWE Career Development Program must:

  • Be a member of the organization for a minimum of one full year prior to application.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in AWE including attendance of general membership meetings, recruiting new members in AWE, giving referrals to other members within AWE, volunteering on AWE's board or various committees and/or any other way the applicant can demonstrate active involvement in AWE.
  • Have a current registered business (i.e., DBA, LLC, Corporation) or be an employee of a business and willing to share with other women entrepreneurs how the Career Development Program assisted you in obtaining a greater expertise in your current position.
  • Current members may not apply for more than one Career Development Program per year. If your membership lapses, your seniority as a member, should you choose to rejoin, is not retained.
  • Once funds have been awarded, you are not eligible to apply again for two years.

Confidentiality

Specific confidential information on Career Development Program recipients may not be disclosed to the public. When such information is sought, general statistics about recipients, rather than their names, must be used to identify them.

Process

Applicants must:

  • Submit a completed application.
  • Provide a summary explaining what the recipient plans to gain from the Career Development Program including where the Career Development Program monies will be used and to whom the Career Development Program check should be made.
